Palm: don't get too greedy... you have to realize that there are MANY good options to smartphone buyers these days. The Palm Pre is everything I expected it to be and more. It is an amazing product, and if it sells for under $200, in my opinion, they will be giving it away. This might save Sprint with me I was all ready to pack up and go back to AT&T when my contract ended with sprint in May (for the Iphone). I was finished with Sprint afer my big dissappointment with the Instinct (P.O.S). I love all the comments people make about who has the better network I travel extensively throughout the U.S. and Cananda and there really isn't any difference in the networks they ALL have their issues I have had service with AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile and I even had Verizon back when it was GTE. No network is perfect and I doubt there will ever be a perfect one all this to say that as far as service goes sprint is just as good as all the other ones sometimes better sometimes worse I think they are definitly best on pricing NO ONE is better in that arena.I left Cingular(AT&T)several years ago cause Sprint had all the cool phones and Cingular was so boring, now the tables have turned. I don't beleive anyone will be able to touch the Iphone for quite some time, that is the edge AT&T has, I can't deny that but I think the Palm Pre will give it a run for its money. I have a Palm Treo thats due for an upgrade also so I'm gonna give Sprint one more chance to redeem themselves I'm sure Sprint & Palm are very aware of this with many people. I'ts sink or swim.

I think 199 is a fair price. Any higher, I believe on a 2 year contract or renewal, you could find something economically better and they would just be shooting themselves in the foot! Whats the point in creating a beautiful flawless phone if the general masses either can not afford it or believes that it is too over priced to pay for. Palm should really listen to this post and act accordingly. I would love for Palm to stick around a little longer but not if they believe they can make great phones and price them well over the competition. That's Econ 101...

I'm riding the fence. We have 5 phones with Sprint and my contract is up with them in May, something that we have been looking forward too. We have been with Sprint for 10+ years and their lack of customer service and the way they have treated us as customers these past 5 year as shunned we a way from Sprint. I like the iphone but I don’t believe it is capable of doing what I want it to do. It is not a business phone per say. I want a phone that can get on the internet and be on the tech side, but I want a phone that can open word and excel docs and make changes to these docs. From what I have read about the Pre I can do all this plus some, therefore I’m excited about the Pre. Purchasing a Pre is riding on Sprints shoulder weather I stay or weather I take my business else where. There is always going to be a new and improved phone with the latest technology. It’s time for the cell phone companies to change their way of thinking. If I sign on with your company, it’s only for 2 years, you have to earn my business; therefore treat the customers you have like you want their business. Earn it!

I work for Sprint and I can promise this phone should not even be compared to the iPhone. Palm has designed a device to complete everyday life. I would like to see you copy and paste on your iPhones.

i would but it has to be compatable with 4g not a big deal but i would like it to be compatable and sprint has one of the strongest networks just has alittle bad customer service but i really would love to see this phone at 149.99 even after a mail in rebate or something but i currently have an iphone and storm and i will leave the iphone just cause of its spotty reception and lack of features compared to the pre. and i went to europe with the iphone and couldn get any signal so i unlocked it and got another gsm carrier sim and made the problem even worse i hate the iphone and just so u guys know the 3.0 software isn't coming out till mid july not june cause of the bugs in it i work at apple so.

Probably. Were it to be $149, absotively posilutely! The Centro was worth $99, and I doubt this is fully double the value, but 1.5x, I'm sure.

I've had a Centro for the longest and it's my little baby. But once I saw this phone I had to HAVE it. I think $199 is very inline with other new phone prices. But the rumored $399 is wayyyy too much, I likey the $199 much more! I can't wait.

The phone seems to be worth it. I owned a used HTC Touch Pro (GSM) that ran Windows Mobile. The interface and responsiveness ruined the otherwise perfect phone. This phone has both a full qwerty keyboard and an interface that is smooth, responsive and intuitive, which essentially removes the learning curve after getting this phone.

Sure, but I doubt Sprint will sell it that cheap. My guess is $299.99, keeping in line with other Sprint smartphones. Why would a phone with this much buzz be priced less than phones that don't offer as much?

all of you saying sprint needs to do something about the data packages - they have. you can do a family plan for $129/mo plus $19 per line for lines 3 - 5. It's not unlimited minutes like the simply everything plan - only 1500 per month - but everything else, even internet and blackberry access, is unlimited. i know this because i upgraded my plan today so that when we they release the pre i will have no probs ordering it!
